About Matthew House Ottawa

Matthew House Ottawa is a place of welcome, dignity, and community.

We provide shelter, settlement support, and a sense of belonging to refugee claimants. We also operate one of Ottawa’s largest furniture banks, furnishing homes for families and individuals who are starting over most of whom are newcomers or transitioning out of homelessness.

Since opening our doors in 2009, we have served more than 20,000 families through our Furniture Bank and welcomed over 1000 refugee claimants through our refugee services program.

This year, we moved into our new 20,000-square-foot warehouse, giving us the space we need to serve more families, manage donations more efficiently, and expand the impact of our Furniture Bank.

Big space means Bigger impact.

By joining our team, volunteering, or fundraising through Ride for Refuge, you are helping us to continue creating homes, building community, and extending welcome to people who are starting over in Ottawa.

Every step helps us go further.
