What moves you? Join us on Saturday, October 1, 2022 for the Ride for Refuge, a family-friendly bike + walk fundraiser supporting local charities who help people seeking refuge from danger, hardship, and abuse.
The Back Door Mission, operating Mission United, has partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Durham Mental Health Services, Aids Committee of Durham Region, John Howard Society, Carea, Pinewood Additions Centre, Durham Region Housing Services, and Ontario Works, to provide low-barrier, on-site wrap-around services for those experiencing poverty and homelessness within Durham Region. We offer a full medical clinic, a safe sleep space, addictions and mental health supports, housing engagement, harm reduction, financial assistance, and outreach services.
We are also a leader in community development through collaboration with the Gap Committee and other local agencies. We strive to not only provide the essentials for individuals in need, but to make a meaningful impact in their lives and future. Our staff work endlessly to engage our patrons in activities that assist them in developing an increased self-worth and confidence.
Our model of service is dedicated to assisting individuals reaching long-term stabilization, whatever that may look for them. We utilize core services such as washrooms, hot meals, and food pantry programs as a tool to build trust-based relationships with the most vulnerable members of our community. This increases the efficacy of our intensive treatment programs.
At the end of the day, these are our people, and we are your people. Join the village today!
Start location is at Back Door Mission. Parking lot is on Bagot Street!
