About South Essex Community Council

At SECC we believe everyone deserves a safe space to call home, have meaningful connections and the chance to thrive.

We walk and ride alongside individuals and families navigating major life transitions whether they are newcomers starting over in a new country, seniors, children and youth searching for belonging or job seekers building their futures.

The journey to stability isn’t easy – especially for those escaping violence, instability, or systems barriers. But with a strong community behind them, that journey becomes possible.

When you Ride for Refuge, you make that community possible. You help ensure that no one has to face uncertainty alone. You ride to offer hope, safety, and freedom – and to build a Windsor Essex region where everyone is valued and supported.

What to Bring

A few common sense suggestions:

  • A cell phone for emergencies (recommended but not required)
  • Your bike and helmet or walking shoes
  • Extra snacks if you have allergies or food sensitivities
  • Your own water bottle
  • Warm layers with moisture-repelling clothing. Early October weather can be cool, with rain and wind. The weather might also be gorgeous and sunny. So be sure to keep your eye on the forecast.
  • A passion for the charity you're fundraising for!
