About HMC Connections

HMC Connections is a settlement agency in Halton and we’d like to invite you to participate in our RIDE for REFUGE.

HMC has been serving the Halton community for 47 years and our agency welcomes immigrants and refugees. The Ride for Refuge is meant to raise money for a variety of causes across Canada to help and support vulnerable people needing supports. HMC is fundraising to help local immigrant and refugee families that fall into crisis with short term urgent funds for things like groceries, diapers, uncovered prescriptions and household items like bedding.

Immigrating to a new country puts family under severe stress and most families are able to deal with that stress and thrive but some need some extra supports.

For refugees, they did not plan to come to Canada – some traumatic event in their community has forced them to find a new place to live. That trauma can be war, famine, political or personal persecution, and this means these families are additionally challenged as they deal with these past traumas and try and settle into our community.

At HMC we have been witness to so many brave and inspirational life stories. People are resilient and determined and some just need that helping hand to get them on track to participate fully in our community.

Your donation will go directly to help families in our community with the basics they need to get back on track and your participation in this event will show your strong commitment to making a difference for families in need.
