What moves you? Join us on Saturday, October 1, 2022 for the Ride for Refuge, a family-friendly bike + walk fundraiser supporting local charities who help people seeking refuge from danger, hardship, and abuse.
The Portal provides access to a brighter future for youth in the Annapolis Valley. The Portal acts as a resource centre to youth and works to prevent and respond to youth who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. These youth who are sometimes forgotten are facing challenges such as: relational breakdown, substance abuse & addictions, isolation, poverty, homelessness, literacy, crime and street level risks, and work/education shortcomings. The Portal provides a safe place (physically and emotionally) for young people to secure basic needs (food, shelter, relationships) and experience a sense of belonging so that they can take work through their trauma/ emotional needs and become independent. Each individual that comes through the door or is met in the community are accepted, regardless of their lifestyle, beliefs, age, race, gender, or social-economic status. The Portal's vision is that all youth in the Annapolis Valley have a safe, supportive and nurturing home.
