Gear up - RIDE Day is September 30, 2017!

Ride or walk with us at the Cold Lake Ride for Refuge on September 30, 2017, generously hosted and operated by Cold Lake Food Bank!

Times

Here's the schedule for the RIDE:

  • 8am - Registration opens
  • 8:45am - Opening Ceremonies
  • 9am - RIDE begins (all distances)
  • 9:30am - WALK begins
  • 10am - Registration closes
  • 10:30am - Lunch service begins
  • 2pm - Lunch service ends
  • 2:30pm - Route closes

Yummy Food


  • There will be snacks at rest stops, and lunch will be available for participants when they return from their ride or walk.

  • We are not able to accommodate for food sensitivities/allergies. If you have a dietary restriction, bring along some extra food/snacks.


Registration

CHECK-IN:


  • All riders, walkers, and volunteers must:
  • check-in
  • sign a waiver form
  • wear their event wristband once registered

  • Participants aged 17 and under must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver or bring in a pre-signed waiver form. Download waiver form under the "Tools" section of our website.

REGISTRATION


NEW for 2017

  • There is an optional registration / participation fee for those ages 11 or older who choose not to fundraise. For those who choose to pay the non-refundable registration fee, the cost is $25 before September 25th or $40 after September 25th.

  • Fundraisers ages 18+ who raise $150 or more will have their registration fee waived and will earn a RIDE shirt.

  • Fundraisers 11-17 who raise $75 or more will have their registration fee waived and earn a t-shirt.

On average, participants in the RIDE raise $260 per person, and the average online donation is $64, so it's a reachable goal!


  • Kids 10 and under are free

RIDE T-shirts are available on event day while supplies last and are available in sizes youth small to adult 3XL.


MONEY & CHEQUES:


  • Log into your personal fundraising page and post all cash and cheque donations online.

  • Bring all cash/cheques to registration check-in.

  • Print off the MY RESULTS FORM to bring with you.

  • If you haven't posted your cash & cheque donations online please ensure that you've carefully and neatly written in all your donor information onto a paper Donation Form to ensure proper receipting and partner allocation. Find these on our "Tools" page. Full mailing addresses are needed to issue charitable tax receipts.

  • Please ensure all cheques are signed, are made payable to Ride for Refuge and are current dated.

Route Details

Route Options Include


  • 10 km RIDE
  • 25 km RIDE
  • 50 km RIDE
  • 5 km WALK

  • Rest stops will be available on all distances.

  • All riders 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

  • Joggers are permitted on the walk route but must head to the front of the group.


What to Bring

  • a helmet (mandatory for all riders)
  • your bike (or walking shoes!)
  • warm layers with moisture repelling clothing if cold or windy
  • water bottle - filled with icy cold water
  • a cell phone for emergencies - recommended but not required
  • your My Results Form - downloaded from the fundraising portal
  • a signed copy of your Waiver Form (RIDERS / WALKERS 17 or under must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver form)
  • any cash - or cheques made out to "Ride for Refuge"
  • extra food or snacks if you have allergies or food sensitivities
  • a passion for the charity you're riding or walking for

Late September can be cool, with rain and wind. The weather might also be gorgeous and sunny. Be sure to keep your eye on the forecast.

The Cold Lake Food Bank, a service of the Cold Lake Food Bank Society, is a welcoming, safe environment and community for individuals and families to receive food support.


Join the 2nd Annual Ride Walk Event in Cold Lake!



Ride 10Km, 25km or 50Km or Walk/Run 5km


Start & Finish at the Cold Lake Food Bank / Community Baptist Church

5216 55A Street (1 block north from the 7/11)


Registration: 8AM

Start: 9AM

Lunch: 10:30AM-2:00PM

Route Closes: 2:30PM


  • All riders must wear a helmet & sign a waiver
  • Runners are welcome but asked to start in front of the walkers
  • All kinds of bicycles & strollers are welcome but not pets
  • We are not able to accomodate food allergies/sensitivities
  • Parking is at the Grand Centre Alliance Church

Cold Lake Maps

All routes are generously marked with bright RIDE signage, staffed by friendly volunteers, and include rest stops with snacks along the way.

5kmView + print!

Runners & Walkers follow the White Markers. This route heads South and then West along the Millennium trail towards the military base. The turn around point is at the gazebo.

10kmView + print!

Riders follow Pink markers! West on the road toward the base into 2 subdivisions before looping East back onto the millennium trail. Over the bridge before Lions Park and continuing on the road.

25kmView + print!

Riders follow Blue Markers On the road South & West towards the military base. Continue North out the back gate (Hwy 897) Turning Right/East on (Hwy 55) and Right/ South onto (Hwy 28)

50kmView + print!

Out Back Gate - Counter Clockwise around Ethel Lake. East on 55 and South on 28!
