The RIDE will happen as scheduled on Saturday, October 3, 2020! However, Covid-related health risks and operational challenges won't permit us to assemble in large groups. So instead, we'll gather virtually, self-organizing in smaller, covid-friendly teams or groups as permitted.
Let's keep our RIDE location communities going! Register for the same RIDE location as last year - or, if you are new, register in a location you're within an hour of.
The Portal provides access to a brighter future for youth in the Annapolis Valley. The Centre acts as a resource centre to youth and works to prevent and respond to youth who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. These youth who are sometimes forgotten are facing challenges such as: relational breakdown, substance abuse & addictions, isolation, poverty, homelessness, literacy, crime and street level risks, and work/education shortcomings. The outreach provides a safe place (physically and emotionally) for young people to secure basic needs (food, shelter, relationships) and experience a sense of belonging so that they can take responsibility for their lives and deal with their trauma/ emotional needs. Each individual that comes through the door or is met in the community are accepted, regardless of their lifestyle, beliefs, age, race, gender, or social-economic status. Some are supported to reconcile with their own family or finding a sense of family in an alternative safe setting
There are no official RIDE locations this year. Teams will self-organize in smaller groups, following all COVID-related protocols for safety. Ask your captain for details on the plan for your team.
This year you can sleep in a little longer if you want. Teams and individuals are free to gather at a time that is convenient for all of you.
Please connect with your team captain about your t-shirt. All t-shirts have been sent to team captains in Annapolis Valley.
All participants must register online this year and accept the electronic waiver.
Safety First!
If your team is outside on Event Day, keep a close eye on everyone, their plans, whereabouts, and safety.
Common Sense Mainly!
