For girls in rural Western China, education is the path the escape the cycle of poverty that would otherwise keep them at home, voiceless, and often married young.
Educating Girls of Rural China, founded in Vancouver in 2005, is dedicated to providing the financial and moral support necessary for these young women to get a high school and university education. Over 12 years, 698 sponsorships have been awarded, and the students boast a higher than 99% graduation rate.
A girl in rural China needs $1,000 each year to attend high school for three years. This year, you can get your family and friends involved by joining a team or starting your own for this year's Ride for Refuge, on September 30th, 2017, in cities across Canada. By walking or riding, you can help change a girl's life by sending her to school.
