What moves you? Join us on October 5, 2019 for the Ride for Refuge, a family-friendly cycling and walking fundraiser that supports charities who provide refuge and hope for displaced, vulnerable and exploited people everywhere.
Building Assets works with local organizations in Shan State, Burma, and along the Thai-Burma border to provide access to education for girl children and youth. Every girl should have the right to education, although today an estimated 130 million girls around the world are not in school. Worse, conditions in parts of Shan State are harsh and dangerous, with ongoing conflict between the government and ethnic groups. Conflict so often destroys the right to education- and in so doing increases the likelihood of poverty, social division and contributes to increased inequality. Building Assets promotes women's rights and the education of girl children affected by this violence in Burma.
By participating in the 2019 RIDE campaign, not only will we be able to create greater awareness of the plight of girl children affected by conflict- but also provide hope and a safe and peaceful environment for students from Burma to study in who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend school.
