What moves you? Join us on October 5, 2019 for the Ride for Refuge, a family-friendly cycling and walking fundraiser that supports charities who provide refuge and hope for displaced, vulnerable and exploited people everywhere.
The Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre (DMSCC) is an emergency shelter for women and their children in crisis. We also offer a 24/7 Helpline which provides crisis intervention services. Our community also has access to our Community Support and Outreach Services for men, women, and youth. Our team offers 1-on-1 support, advocacy, as well as provides public education presentations to schools, and community groups. Some of our programs include Community Kitchen, A Better Way Program, and Healthy Babies. The DMSCC also operates a second-stage housing program which is a transitional program designed to help provide women and their children with tools that could help ensure successful independent living in their community.
A recent study showed that, "...animal abuse is present in roughly 89% of domestic violence cases” and it's with that in mind that we will be fundraising for pet housing on site which will help increase the support system for women in times of crisis.
